The adventure takes place in Japan this time around with franchise stars Wang Baoqiang (Kung Fu Jungle) and Liu Haoran returning in Detective Chinatown 3 alongside Zhang Zifeng and Satoshi Tsumabuki. New to the cast is martial arts star Tony Jaa (Triple Threat).
